Collection: Books
We all intuitively know there's something special about reading to our child.
Although babies aren't going to understand everything they hear when you read to them, early introduction to books has tons of benefits.
When you read aloud you:
- are teaching your baby about communication
- introduce important concepts like colors, shapes, numbers and letters
- help your child practice listening and memory
- provide new information about the world they may not have experienced yet
Once your child reaches their first birthday, they'll have all the sounds they need to speak their native language. That means that the more stories you read with them, the more words and sounds they'll have experienced in order to effectively communicate themselves.
Other benefits of reading books aloud:
- baby experiences emotions and expressive sounds, which can aid in emotional and social development
- baby is encouraged to look, point, answer and ask questions. This can help with critical thinking skills
- baby will be more likely to try copying sounds, recognizing pictures and learn words.
